Laughing matter

Warning: The Web site herein discussed is not sanitized to protect the virginal, hyper-sensitive, politically correct, easily offended or those with supervised access to the Internet. Proceed at your own risk.

Should you take the bold steps forward into eBaum's World (www.ebaumsworld.com), however, you'll find yourself at the threshold of an ugly but well-fed humor portal -- kind of a Jabba the Hutt of digital comedy. What exactly will you find here? What won't you find! It's the conglomeration of a bunch of pictorial jokes and downloads that anyone who's ever received a forwarded e-mail has probably seen at least once (the "priceless" parody ads, the P.O.'d office guy), plus some other naughty nuggets thrown in to keep things fresh.

Current highlights are the "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" ditty and the celebrity prank calls, which employ celebrity audio clips in the pursuit of irresponsible and irreverent fun at others' expense. What's not to like about that?

Better yet, you can conduct celebrity prank calls of your own using the site's celebrity soundboards and then submit them for others' listening pleasure. Miss Cleo, Judge Judy, Jack Black, Al Pacino -- these are just a few of your potential partners in crime. And just think, you'll be able to tell your friends you've collaborated with a big star!

Other features in the site's stash are similarly juvenile (and occasionally NC-17-rated) movies, games, jokes, cartoons, pictures and tales, plus a big ol' forum for sharing love and hate for this sick, strange world.

Navigating the jumble can be a bit tricky -- especially since some links seem to lead to suspiciously sneaky money-making schemes and at least borderline porn. But if you can look past the unspectacular aesthetics and morass of tangled links, you'll probably find yourself rewarded with a good, guttural snigger or two. A great way to drive your pod-mates crazy.
